The project
The owner drives this Healey regularly and wanted drivetrain reliability, not a cosmetic restoration — the car's lived-in original paint and interior were left untouched. The C-series inline-six was rebuilt with correct-type babbitt-style replacement bearings, the four-speed gearbox's electric overdrive unit was fully serviced (a common failure point on these cars when left unused for long periods), and the rear axle was rebuilt with correct-ratio gears sourced specifically to match the car's original factory specification rather than a more readily available substitute ratio.
A 500-mile shakedown drive confirmed correct overdrive engagement across all four forward gears before the car was returned to daily use.
