The project
French coachbuilt cars of this era present a specific challenge: fasteners, trim, and even sheet-metal gauge conventions differ meaningfully from British or American practice of the same period, so generic pre-war restoration parts are frequently the wrong standard entirely. We worked from period photographs and the surviving portions of the original bodywork to guide the aluminum panel work, and the pre-war independent front suspension — advanced for its era — was fully rebuilt with correct-type bushings rather than a generic modern substitute that would have altered the car's original handling character.
Panel fit and gap consistency across the hand-formed aluminum bodywork was the single most time-intensive element of the entire restoration, exactly the standard a concours judge examines most closely on a coachbuilt car.
